Pep Talk

Hey Poot, it's Monday. It's time you started making yourself valuable. You have to bring value to the equation. That's what it is to make yourself valuable -- it's a proposition. A value proposition. Otherwise you're just a big subtraction. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. So let's begin.

The first thing you've got to realize -- it's all about signals. If you're not sending the right signals, you're not adding value. And the right signals begin with the right lifestyle. That's why you have to start by improving your lifestyle.

The right lifestyle starts with the right look. You have to beam. You have to glow. It's bad to look old -- you can't look like you're fifty-five. No one wants you if you look like you're fifty-five. You have got to shed years and pounds, you've got to watch what you eat and you've got to exercise. Concentrate on your middle first -- you absolutely need to flatten your gut. Then you need to whiten your teeth. You also need to take care of your skin. Skin is so important. It's not easy, but there's plenty of help available. Books. Videos. Coaches. Beauty parlors. Hah. No one calls them beauty parlors any more. Spas. Soak your bones in a tub of warm mud. Go ahead. It'll make you glow. Your lifestyle is
so important. Ask yourself, "Am I physically fit?" If the answer is no, there's no way you're going to beam. The right look starts with the right body, and the right body starts with the right lifestyle. Got it?

But that's not enough. No way. Your lifestyle is your body plus your possessions. It's all part of your look. And your look has to be the look of money. Your clothes? Your clothes must say, "Money." Your cell? "Money." Your car? "Money." Your address? "Money." Your kitchen? "Money, honey." It's so important to look successful. Otherwise you'll never
be successful. Remember that the next time you're making a purchase -- does the thing you're buying say, "Money?" If not, put it down. You mustn't buy cheap.

Even if you can't afford all the best things, you need to know about them, and be able to talk about them. Whatever else, know your brands. Otherwise nobody's going to take you seriously. The right brands say, "Money." And money is a signal -- a signal you need to send. Nothing turns people off more than a lack of money. People can tell right away whether or not you've got money. They can see it in your eyes, in the way you carry yourself, in your clothes, your grooming. Without money, don't even think about making a positive impression.

If you can't make a positive impression, you won't add value to the equation. Which means you won't be successful. Got it? You want a job, right? Listen, poot, if you don't want to be successful, just keep doing what you've been doing. You look okay for a fifty-five-year old guy. You've got your books and your backyard. Nobody's after your arse yet. But don't expect anyone to give you a second look. The Free Market Boys only want successful people on their successful teams. They want to share a lifestyle. They want to take you golfing. And they want to see that you're carrying the right clubs. The ones that say, "Money."
